Why do many people think that MLM / network marketing / home business is not legit or pyramid scheme? ?

I just dont get it. Take years to make anybusiness profit, and it has large capital and a lot of effort. However, many MLM / home business, just $ 97 to $ 500 to start and most businesses and the site is set up for you. Why do so many uneducated idiots think they pyramid scams?
